Glyphosate, chlorine, fragrances, and a surplus of other toxic chemicals all up in your lady parts?? Thanks, but NO THANKS.
Believe it or not, we actually have to worry about finding non-toxic period products because our feminine hygiene routine can be a big contributor to our chemical exposure. Just think about it: we have to wear various period products throughout the phases of our cycles for a minimum of 5-10 days every single month for decades! And because they're situated right against our skin or inside our actual bodies, we're that much more available to absorb whatever chemicals are lurking in them.
It's crazy that women have to add another burden to our already full plates, but we're talking about toxic ingredients that can cause hormone disruption, infertility, cancer and birth defects. The easiest way to protect yourself from these dangers is to choose products made with natural, organic and safe materials without added toxins like chlorine, petrochemicals, and fragrances.
Guide to Non-Toxic Period Products
We were pleasantly surprised to find a large selection easily accessible online. Our recommendations include brands we've confirmed only use organic cotton, natural fibers, silicone or inert materials without chlorine, fragrances or toxic synthetic materials.
Don't forget to check out our favorite little period survival kit filled with organic must-haves for those unavoidable emergencies.

Pink Daisy pads are my favorite!
We’ve heard great things about them!
Can the cloth pads be used for little bladder leakage? Pregnancy/giving birth was hard on my bladder!
Sure they can! We’ve used Lunapads pantyliners for just that occasion (i.e. jumping on the trampoline with the kids is ROUGH!)
In the period panties, do you know much about Modibodi and Thinx?
Hi Jo-Anne! We’ve never heard of Modibodi so I’m afraid we can’t help you there. As for Thinx, we’re not fans of their company’s position on many fronts, or their handling of an unsettling blogger program issue they had, so we’ve chosen not to include them in our list.
Party in my pants has an organic line or washable pads too!
I’ve used DivaCup for three years now and have converted many of my friends. Inserting takes a little practice but now, I would NEVER go back. It’s the best!!!!
I stopped using store bought pads a long time ago, only cloth for me. Wouldn’t go back!!
